Science and Nature is a peer-reviewed, open-access, multidisciplinary scientific journal published by Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, dedicated to advancing knowledge and promoting scientific excellence across a broad range of disciplines related to the natural sciences, ecology, biodiversity, environmental science, Agroecology and nature conservation. The journal welcomes high-quality research articles written in English that contribute to the development of scientific knowledge, address important research questions, and provide novel insights into the structure, functioning, dynamics, and conservation of natural systems.
The journal aims to provide an international platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to communicate scientific findings, exchange ideas, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. It publishes original research articles, review articles, and other scholarly contributions that advance understanding of natural processes, ecological interactions, environmental change, and sustainable approaches to the management and conservation of natural resources. All submitted manuscripts are subject to a rigorous peer-review process to ensure scientific quality, originality, methodological soundness, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Science and Nature welcomes contributions across a wide range of interconnected disciplines, including but not limited to:
Ecology and Ecosystem Science: Plant and animal ecology, community ecology, population dynamics, ecosystem functioning, ecological interactions, ecological succession, landscape ecology, and ecosystem resilience.
Biodiversity and Conservation Biology: Biodiversity assessment, species distribution and habitat suitability, threatened species, conservation planning, ecological networks, habitat fragmentation, and biodiversity conservation.
Vegetation and Rangeland Ecology: Plant community dynamics, vegetation classification, rangeland ecology, range and watershed management, grazing impacts, restoration of degraded ecosystems, and vegetation responses to environmental gradients.
Environmental Science and Global Change: Climate change impacts, land-use and land-cover change, desertification, soil degradation, pollution, environmental stressors, and the ecological consequences of human activities.
Restoration Ecology and Nature-Based Solutions: Ecological restoration, mine-land rehabilitation, ecosystem recovery, native species establishment, habitat reconstruction, and nature-based approaches to environmental challenges.
Soil, Water, and Biogeochemical Processes: Soil ecology, watershed processes, nutrient cycling, hydrological interactions, soil–plant relationships, and ecosystem-level responses to environmental change.
Remote Sensing, GIS, and Ecological Modelling: Remote sensing applications in ecology, spatial biodiversity assessment, ecological modelling, species distribution modelling, machine learning applications, and geospatial approaches to environmental monitoring.
Natural Resource Management and Sustainability: Ecosystem services, natural capital assessment, environmental management, sustainable use of natural resources, and the integration of ecological knowledge into conservation and management strategies.
The journal encourages interdisciplinary studies that integrate field observations, experimental approaches, laboratory analyses, spatial technologies, statistical methods, ecological modelling, and emerging computational techniques to address fundamental and applied scientific questions.
Publication Criteria and Scientific Contribution
Submissions to Science and Nature should demonstrate a clear scientific contribution and provide meaningful advances in the relevant field. Manuscripts should identify the research problem and knowledge gap, critically engage with relevant and up-to-date literature, and clearly explain how their findings extend existing knowledge. Particular emphasis is placed on originality, robust research design, appropriate analytical methods, reproducibility, and the ecological or environmental significance of the results.
Studies presenting new empirical evidence, innovative methodologies, conceptual advances, or findings with broader implications for ecological understanding, biodiversity conservation, environmental assessment, and sustainable natural resource management are especially encouraged. Research conducted in understudied regions and ecosystems is welcome when it provides a clear scientific contribution beyond the description of a local case study.
Through the publication of rigorous and innovative research, Science and Nature seeks to strengthen scientific understanding of natural systems and support evidence-based approaches to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and the sustainable management of the natural environment.
